Easter Egg Hunt Now Spring Egg Hunt

Didn't take long today to get my first news article that was troubling. You can read the whole article here: http://www2.nbc17.com/member-center/share-this/print/?content=ar905322.
So what is wrong with this? Easter is not a Hallmark holiday that some company invented to sell more cards, it is a celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. It is my belief that this is part of a bigger effort to detach the United States from its core beliefs. I understand that there are a lot of religions (or lack of religion) followed within the United States and they each have their own right to practice but that doesn't mean you can eliminate Christian holidays simply because the minority does not follow them or even may be offended by them. Our founders believed this country was founded through divine inspiration and because of that God has become the cornerstone of everything this country is. Whether you believe or not, God has a place in this country and if we wipe any reference to Him from the books we are certain to fail.

If you think this is an isolated incident, just do some searching regarding the effort to rebrand Christmas. Here are a just a couple quick links to browse:

Watch for these kinds of changes to increase every year!

Who exactly is Tim Pawlenty?

As we get further into 2011 you can just feel the anticipation of the 2012 elections growing. Tim Pawlenty is the first person I am interested in learning more about, who has announced the forming of an exploratory committee to run for president of the United States. At this point I don't know much about him at all but the video at the bottom did spark my interest. The things he is saying I can agree with but Obama could have made the same type of video and it is clear how I feel about him.

One thing that I promised myself this year is that I would thoroughly investigate each candidate to ensure they meet my principles and match my values (would be a good post at some point) before throwing my support behind them... I will never make the mistake of supporting a candidate that I haven't vetted myself.

As I learn more about him I will update this blog but right now this is what I know!

April 7th, 2011 Update
I haven't had a chance to really start digging into Pawlenty but I have heard my first additional piece of information and that was that he originally supported Cap and Trade which I am against. This is definitely a concern for me as I feel it is an attack on the private sector. That being said, I understand that he also came out and said that it was a "bad idea". The question that is open for me is why did he now decide it was a bad idea? I think he could redeem himself on this assuming he changed his mind for the right reasons.

Why a blog?

I decided to create a blog for my thoughts rather than broadcasting them through Facebook. Yeah, yeah, I know these are still going to show up in Facebook and I'm ok with that because I want people to read them if they want to and ignore them if they choose. It just gives me a place to have a record of my thoughts and look back, almost like a journal.

There is just so much happening now days and my head is constantly filled with thoughts. Things I see, things I read, things I wonder about, things I dream up, etc... Just a few of the topics that might come up in here are the following:

  • Politics (you know that will end up being the main thing!)
  • Current Events
  • Religion
  • Sports
  • Entertainment
  • Technology
  • Travel
  • Whatever else I come up with...
I would be naive if I thought I would post every day, every week or even every month. This is just going to be used when I feel inspired. Do I hope people read these? Ummm... yes and no. It is always nice to know what people think about topics but at the same time I'm doing this for me (yep, selfish I know!). Please do comment though if you agree, disagree or are indifferent with anything! Those random comments will make it fun. I will always try to tag the posts so that you don't have to pay attention to political talk if you don't want.
